Why families choose Legacia

The period after a bereavement brings many parallel demands. Having one place that keeps the paper record in order — without pressure and without assumptions about what should happen next — lets families attend to what matters most.

No conflict of interest

Legacia does not value, advise on distribution or refer to third-party services. The record is yours to use as you choose.

Encrypted and returned

Digital copies are stored on encrypted media. Every original is returned to the family in the order received, with a written receipt.

Named administrator

Retainer clients have one point of contact who knows the file. No call centres, no rotating staff, no repeating yourself.

Plain written outputs

Every service ends with a document the family can read, file and take to a solicitor, accountant or trust officer without translation.

Defined scope and timeline

Each service has a clear description of what is included, how long it takes and what form the output takes — no open-ended engagements.

Unhurried and respectful

Work moves at the pace the family sets. Appointments are flexible, and the tone throughout is calm and matter-of-fact.

Frequently asked questions

What does Legacia actually produce at the end of a session?
Every service ends with a written document — either a printed catalogue, an indexed archive with table of contents, or a monthly written summary depending on which service you have chosen. Digital copies are also provided. These outputs are factual records you can share with a solicitor, accountant or other professional as you see fit.
Does Legacia tell us what things are worth or who should receive them?
No. Legacia records what is there and describes it in plain terms. It does not assign monetary values, offer opinions on ownership, make recommendations about distribution or refer you to other services. For those decisions, you would work with your own qualified legal or financial professional.
We have documents at several different addresses. Can Legacia still help?
Yes — the Estate Records Consolidation Project is designed for exactly that situation. Documents held across multiple homes and with different relatives are collected, scanned at archival resolution, named consistently and brought together into one indexed archive. Every original is returned to the family once the work is complete.
How long does the household inventory session take?
The visit itself is a half-day. The written catalogue and digital copy are delivered within seven working days. The session covers papers, jewellery, timepieces, books and furnishings — the scope is agreed with the family beforehand so the visit is focused and does not run over.
What does the administrative retainer include?
The twelve-month retainer covers a maintained document register, a correspondence log with dates and reference numbers, appointment scheduling, clerical preparation of packs using information the representative supplies, and monthly written summaries. A named administrator is available by telephone during working hours. The service is strictly clerical — it never advises, never signs and never acts on the family's behalf.
How are our documents kept secure?
Digital copies are stored on encrypted media and handled according to our data handling policy. Physical originals are kept in secure, labelled storage during the project and returned to the family on completion. We do not retain copies of original documents beyond the period agreed in the service description.
How do we get started?
The first step is a short telephone or in-person conversation to understand the family's situation and which service would be the most useful starting point. Use the contact form below or call us directly. There is no pressure to proceed, and the conversation carries no obligation.
